CBG Skincare

CBG for dry skin – build a barrier that holds

Dry skin is rarely about not drinking enough water. It's about a barrier that leaks. CBG helps the skin produce the right lipids and build a barrier that actually keeps moisture in – not just patch things up on the surface.

CBG for dry skin – build a barrier that holds

Why does skin get dry?

The skin barrier – stratum corneum – is built like a brick wall: dead skin cells (corneocytes) are the bricks and lipids (ceramides, cholesterol, fatty acids) are the mortar. When lipid production is disrupted, cracks appear in the barrier and transepidermal water loss (TEWL) increases dramatically.

The causes are many: aging reduces natural lipid production, cold winters dry out the air, central heating lowers indoor humidity, aggressive cleansers dissolve barrier lipids, and excessive exfoliation thins the protective layer. Even stress and sleep deprivation play a role – cortisol measurably impairs barrier function.

Most moisturizers tackle symptoms, not causes. They lay an occlusive layer on top that temporarily prevents evaporation, but they don't help the skin repair its own barrier. It's the difference between patching a leaking pipe with tape and actually fixing the pipe.

Strategies that strengthen the skin barrier from within

1

Eat more fat – the right kind

Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are building blocks for the skin's barrier lipids. Fatty fish, avocado, walnuts, and flaxseed give the skin material to build with. A low-fat diet shows directly in the skin's moisture balance.

2

Shower shorter and cooler

Long, hot showers dissolve barrier lipids and increase water loss. Keep it under eight minutes with lukewarm water. It feels less luxurious but your skin will thank you.

3

Avoid SLS-based cleansers

Sodium lauryl sulfate and similar surfactants are extremely effective degreasers – too effective. They remove dirt but also barrier lipids. Switch to an oil-based cleanser like Au Naturel that cleans without stripping.

4

Use a humidifier in winter

Indoor air during Scandinavian winters can have lower humidity than the Sahara. A humidifier maintaining 40–50 percent relative humidity in the bedroom makes a dramatic difference. Skin repairs itself at night – give it the right environment.

How CBG supports dry skin at a deeper level

CBG interacts with CB2 receptors in keratinocytes – the cells that build the skin barrier. By modulating these receptors, CBG supports the cells' natural lipid synthesis and differentiation. This means the skin doesn't just receive moisture from outside but actually improves its own ability to retain it.

Additionally, CBG has anti-inflammatory properties that calm the low-intensity inflammation that often accompanies dry, cracked skin. Inflammation worsens barrier damage and creates a vicious cycle – CBG breaks it.

TA-DA Serum carries CBG in organic jojoba oil, whose wax esters are nearly identical to the skin's own lipids. The skin recognizes them and can use them directly in barrier construction. The DUO-kit adds The ONE and I LOVE for complete CBD+CBG support. Start your cleansing with Au Naturel – MCT oil that cleans without disrupting the barrier.

Frequently asked questions

Is an oil really enough for dry skin?

Dry skin lacks lipids, not necessarily water. An oil like jojoba provides exactly what the skin needs – barrier lipids. If you want, you can apply a hyaluronic acid serum on damp skin first and then lock in the moisture with TA-DA Serum.

Can I use CBG oil around the eyes?

Yes. The skin around the eyes is thin and sensitive, but our TA-DA Serum contains only CBG and organic jojoba oil – no irritants. Gently pat a small amount in with your ring finger. Avoid applying directly in the eye.

Does CBG work on extremely dry, cracked skin?

CBG helps the skin repair its barrier from within, which is the root cause of cracking. For extremely dry skin, apply TA-DA Serum generously on damp skin and optionally layer a thin coat of regular moisturizer on top as an occlusive seal.

Stop patching – start repairing

CBG gives your skin building material for a barrier that actually holds. Combined with jojoba oil that the skin recognizes – that's skincare working with biology, not against it.
